Company history
Oxford Electrical Products was established in 1982 to quickly become one of the UK's leading and most highly respected wound component manufacturers.
Initially OEP Ltd was best known for its audio, pulse, line isolating and mains transformer ranges, and linear mains adapters and ferrites, but over the following years the ranges and product offerings, along with the customer base, expanded rapidly to embrace switch-mode, toroidal, SMDs (surface mount device), flyback, current, digital transformers and many other standard or customer specific products.
Trading with such prestigious customers as Sony, Sanyo, Fujitsu, BT and many other well known global brands throughout the 1990s, when BABT and ISO accreditation was also achieved, OEP took on a truly international flavour. With continued expansion across all markets and the need to remain competitive in a now fiercely international and increasingly competitive market place, OEP migrated significant production to Asian manufacturing partners whilst retaining all design rights.
In January 2006, OEP became Walters-OEP as a member of The Walters Group, a highly regarded UK organisation established in 1970, which afforded OEP the benefit of acquiring its own manufacturing site in Nantong, China, where the Group was in the process of building 3 manufacturing facilities.
Walters-OEP now operates successfully across all markets and all continents, offering both ‘standard’ and ‘customer specific’ products, either directly or indirectly through its global distribution network and CEMs. Retaining a UK manufacturing operation to supplement the volume Asian manufacturing facilities, OEP can address both the low volume, quick turnaround customer specific markets, as well as the high volume standard / bespoke end of the spectrum.
